Former Appointments/Institutions

  • Started his career in Cardiac Surgery in 1992 at Escorts Heart Institute and Research Center, New Delhi and Batra Hospital, New Delhi for 3 years and 4 months as Attending Cardiac Surgeon and Junior Consultant.
  • Came back and joined PGI on the faculty as Assistant Professor and was instrumental in starting the CABG program and designed, planned the new Cardiac Center at PGI.
  • Worked as Associate Consultant at Apollo Hospitals, New Delhi.
  • Designed and commissioned City Hospital and Heart Care center, Chandigarh (now Mukat Hospital) and worked as Founder Director (Medical) and Senior Cardiac Surgeon for this hospital. Operated on points for CABGs, Valves and Congenital Heart defects.
  • Worked as Chief Cardiac Surgeon at Malhotra Heart Institute, New Delhi.
  • Worked as Senior Consultant Cardiac Surgeon at Fortis hospital, Mohali from 2003-2008 and achieved best success rates in adult as well as Pediatric Cardiac Surgery.
  • Worked as founder Head of Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular surgery at Alchemist Hospital, Panchkula from 2008 to 2011. Created this facility from scratch to utmost credibility.
  • Worked as Founder Senior Director and Head of Department Of CTVS, Max Superspeciality Hospital, Mohali. Started the department from scratch to excellence and launched new techniques MICS and EVH for the first time in this region.

Achievements

  • Started 4 major Cardiac surgery units during his career with great success.
  • Has the best expertise to tackle high risk situations with highest success rates.
  • Has many National and International publications to his credit. Attended major international conferences in USA and Europe.
  • He was invited in 2006 by World Society of Thoracic Surgeons for presenting a paper on Beating Heart Surgery at Ottawa, Canada at its 16th world congress and his paper was awarded a travel award out of 700 abstracts from third world and developing countries. It was a very successful data for an effort towards achieving zero mortality.
  • Awarded Bhartiya Chikitsak Gaurav Samman by Health and Education Association, New Delhi in December 2009.
  • Awarded Health professional of year 2009 by American Bibliographical institute.
  • Former member New York Academy of Sciences.
  • His work got his name into Who is Who in the World 2000. His name has also figured in Who is Who in Science and Technology 2006 and recently in Who is Who in Medicine and Health Care 2007.
  • Has around 6000 surgeries to his credit and a exposure to 14000 surgeries in all.
  • Presented many papers at national conferences. And published articles of interest in National Dailies.
  • Has handled all types of Cardiac Cases like CABG, Valve replacements and repair of congenital heart defects like ASD, VSD, Tetrology and Partial AV canals with excellent results. Handled International patients while working at Malhotra Heart Institute.
  • Operated successfully upon a sick Pakistani Baby of 9mths with VSD and failure to thrive, which was even given high risk even in US, and also a Bangladeshi national from Saudi Arabia for CABG who also was refused surgery by French surgeons in Saudi Arabia because of high risk. Both the cases were highlighted in media first one in HT on front page and the other Jain TV.
  • Operated upon very rare and challenging cases at Max Hospital, Mohali which were carried by media and many of them are the rarest of rare with very few case reports in the world.
